Happy Friday! It's our last day of Community Helpers Week and we had a blast with it. Today we read the book Fire Truck Vs. Dragon by Chris Barton and Art by Shanda McCloskey. This book was all about a dragon and a firetruck that were best friends. Everyone found this to be quite odd because fire does not usually work very well with fire. They had many adventures together from a bonfire to helping each other with figuring out their best skills. For our first activity today we did math and cognition. For this activity we matched different objects that different community helpers use. We had police dogs and mail trucks as well as cooking utensils. We had so much fun looking at all the different matches we had. For our second activity we did sensory and science; this was our favorite activity today. We always love any activity that involves play dough! For this activity we had police officer and firemen faces and we got to create eyes, noses, and mouths for their community helpers. For our last activity, we worked on our literacy and fine motor skills. We learned sign language for our community helpers. We learned fire, library, building and police officer.
