Happy Tuesday! We are having a blast with polar week! Today we read the book Penguins, Penguins, Everywhere by Bob Barner. We learned all kinds of cool things about penguins. We learned that they live in the hot and the cold and that they all huddle together to keep warm. For our math and cognition activity today we had all kinds of polar bear themed shapes and we sorted them all out by size. Some of us sorted from largest to smallest and some of us sorted them from smallest to largest. For our sensory and science activity we got to paint. We painted white penguins on our black paper and then we gave them eyes and a mouth. For our fine motor and literacy activity we had different wavy lines and we got to practice tracing and then cutting them.

We are so glad to be back! It is time for Polar Animals week! Today we read Footprints in the Snow by Mei Matsuoka. This book is about all the different animals that live in the Arctic. It's amazing to think about all the animals that are able to survive in such a cold and snowy environment! For our first activity, math and cognition, we did a polar animal shape sort. We all had igloos with different shapes on them and we had to find the shape that matched our igloo. For sensory and science we made igloos with blue construction  paper and we used glue to make the shape of an igloo with white squares of tissue paper. For our fine motor and literacy activity we practiced tracing by tracing over different polar animals.
