Happy Friday! We have had so much fun learning about the letter 'Z' and health and hygiene this week. Our red group learned about how important it is to go to the dentist by reading Just Going to the Dentist by Mercer Mayer. Our blue group read Doctor Ted by Andrea Beaty and Pascal Lemaitre. In this book the bear was looking for a doctor and couldn't find one so he became his own doctor for his patients. We used dominos to build shapes using our math and cognition skills. We then used our science and sensory skills to play in the health sensory bins. The sensory bin was filled with green germs and things that keep us healthy from the germs. We also used our literacy and fine motor skills to use cotton swabs to paint our names on our papers.

Friendly Reminders:

CLC will be closed next week, March 29th-April 2nd for Spring Break as well as Monday, April 5th for Teacher Work Day.

Happy Thursday! Just a friendly reminder: CLC will be closed next week, March 29th - April 2nd for Spring Break as well as Monday, April 5th for Teacher Work Day.

Weekly Theme: Health and Hygiene

Weekly Letter: Z

We are LOVING learning about Health and Hygiene this week! Today, Blue group learned about how we lose our teeth as we grow up by reading Tooth on the Loose! by Linda Jennings and Gwyneth Williamson. In this book, Titus the goat realizes it's very difficult to eat with a loose tooth and asks his friends to help him get it out! Our Red group read Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late by Mo Willems. This book emphasizes the importance of getting a good night's rest so we don't feel tired the next day!

To continue building on our idea of personal hygiene and self-care, we learned how to brush teeth in a circle with tooth brushes, shaving cream, and big smiley faces in our first small group activity. In our second small group activity, we put germs on our hands by spreading baby oil and glitter ALL over them. The kiddos had to learn how to wash correctly to effectively remove all of the "germs" off of their hands! In our last large group activity, we made our letter "Z"s into zebras to expand upon our "Z word" vocabulary. Check out the pictures below to see all of the fun!

For our sensory and science activity, we did a pepper and soap science experiment. We used our math and cognition skills to finish different shape patterns. In our literacy and fine motor group, we made the Irish flag by stamping our fingerprints onto paper and attaching a straw for the flag-pole!
