Happy Friday! Today our red group read Hi, Fly Guy by Tedd Arnold. In this book a fly and a boy become friends. Their friendship is very funny and full of adventure. In our blue group, we read Little Quack's New Friend by Lauren Thompson. The ducks in this pond saw a little green frog jump into their pond so they decided to become friends with him and noticed how different he was than a duck. In our first small group activity, we used our math and cognition skills to play a lily pad frog hop game. We then used our fine motor skills to draw our own ponds in our other small group. We drew different things that live in a pond including fish, frogs, ducks, turtles, etc. For our large group activity, we had a very special guest come in and talk to us about the safety that we need around different bodies of water whether it is a pool or the lake. They let us try on a lifejacket with our sensory and science skill and told us how important it was to wear a lifejacket and have a grown-up watching us in the water.

In our blue group, we read Good Morning, Pond by Alyssa Satin Capucilli. This book talks about how each animal that lives in a pond has a different morning routines than the other animals do. For our large group activity, we used our fine motor and literacy skills to learn some pond sign language. We learned different pond animals in sign language including frog, duck, turtle, and fish. We made play dough ponds in our first small group. We created the play dough ponds using our sensory and science skills to place frogs, stones, and fake grass into our ponds. In our other small group, we used our math and cognition skills to count to the numbers on lily pads. We used frogs to hop on the lily pads.
