Today, we read Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle. We enjoyed listening to the story, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and answered questions about the animals that we saw as our math and cognition group. We named the colors and the animals in the story. Then, we practiced writing our names in small groups for language and literacy. We had fun listening to animal sounds and identifying animals for our sensory and science group. Next week's theme is Summertime Fun!

Today we read The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. We had cheesy omelets like they do in France for breakfast as today is Cultural Day. For activities, we got to do math and cognition by The Busy Spider Count using plastic Halloween spiders on "spider web" worksheets.  Next, we got to go outside and check on our radishes Miss Ashley from the MU Health Extension helped us grow.  The kids were very excited to see they had grown bulbs on the end.  We used our language and literacy skills to discuss our radish growth as a group.  At last, for science and sensory, we got to do a taste test.  Each child had a chance to try the radishes we grew! At the end of the day, a teacher brought in a special guest named Chaca the Labradoodle puppy!!

CLC will be closed on teacher work week Monday, August 17th-Friday, August 21st.

In our sensory and science group, we made a turtle shell and glued them onto a turtle. During our literacy and fine motor group, we did The Foolish Turtle story time discussion. The weather was really nice today so we were able to have a water day.

Today we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Eric Carle and Bill Martin Jr.  We did activities based on todays book.  For math and cognition, we did Brown Bear Shape Identification. Animals from the book were inside the shapes and each card said, "What do you see?"  We also did a game that was called "I see a (color and animal) looking at me!" They matched the animals while learning their colors. For literacy and language, we did a Brown Bear Story Board.  The animals were matched on a wheel with velcro as the teacher read each page.  For sensory and science, we played with caterpillars and other Eric Carle characters in rainbow colored rice in the sensory bin.

Friendly Reminders:

CLC will be closed Augusts 17th-21st for teacher work week.  Water day(s) this week will be based on the weather.
