Happy Thursday! It's almost the end of our fun Halloween week! Today we read the book Skeleton Meets the Mummy by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Aaron Zens. This book is about a skeleton who is out in the dark and is scared. He thinks that there may be a mummy after him. The funny twist to this book is once the skeleton sees what he thought was a mummy, he then realizes that it is actually his friend Derek. They laugh about it and then they decide its time to go get some treats since its halloween. For our first activity today, we did our fine motor skills activity; we covered our names with spider rings. The kids loved covering all the letters of their names with colorful spiders. Next, we did our math and cognition activity. We had all different kinds of halloween picture cards and we had to match up our big square cards to the small rectangular cards that all had different kinds of halloween objects on them. For our last activity we did sensory and science. We took play dough and we made play dough monsters! We had all kinds of cool stuff to decorate our monsters with; we had monster teeth, halloween colored beads, and big and little googly eyes. We had lots of cool, scary halloween monsters.
