Happy Monday! This week we are learning all about apples. Today we read Under the Apple Tree by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Alessia Girasole. In this book, several friends help each other get apples from a tree and then decide to read underneath it in the shade. During our first activity, we used our sensory and science skills to make apples and apple trees using play dough. We rolled the play dough into apple shaped balls and made a rectangle trunk with a bushy treetop. Then we used our math and cognition skills to count pom pom apples and place them into our apple tree. Once we counted to the correct amount of apples in the tree we picked them off and moved onto the next apple tree. For our fine motor activity, we laced apple cards using string. Our apple cards had holes punched all around it where we laced the string through.
