This week we are learning about the ocean and beaches. Today we read The Sand Castle Contest by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Michael Martchenko. A boy and his family go camping at the beach where he enters an sand castle contest where no one believe that the sandcastle that he built was made out of sand. During our first small group, we took our sensory and science skills to do a ocean density experiment. For our experiment, we had a bucket full of water and we took some sand and oil and talked about which one sinks and which one floats. In our other small group, we did some jellyfish number tracing using our math and cognition skills. As we traced the numbers we recognized each of the numbers. For our large group activity, we used our fine motor skills to practice cutting out a fish.
