Today we read Big Smelly Bear by Britta Teckentrup. This book taught us that even though baths are scary for some of us and the little bear in this book it is important to keep yourself clean. For our first small group, we used our sensory and science skills to make little hedgehogs out of play dough. We made a hedgehog by using the play dough to create a ball and then we put pipe cleaners on top of the hedgehog for it's spikes and put two eyes on it. In our other small group, we played a goodnight bear parachute game using our cognition skills. In this game we learned about how bears hibernate in the winter time when it is cold and then they wake up once it gets warm again. For our literacy and fine motor activity, we got into a large group and practiced some forest sign language. We learned the sign language for the following words: bird, bear, bunny, and tree.
