This week we are learning about the circus! Today we read Ten Monkey Jamboree by Dianne Ochiltree and pictures by Anne-Sophie Lanquetin. This book is about monkeys that act like acrobats that swing and flip off of the tree branches. During our sensory and science activity, we got into a small group and participated in an M&M science rainbow experiment. In this experiment, the M&Ms were placed in a circle on a paper plate and then we poured warm water onto the plate and watched the magic happen. We talked about how this rainbow of colors looked a lot like the top of a circus tent. In our other small group, we played a color ring toss game. When we tossed our rings onto our cones we had use our math and cognition skills to match the correct colored ring to the right colored cone. In our large group activity, we traced our hand and made circus elephants for our literacy and fine motor activity.
