It's Wednesday and guess what! We're still learning about bugs! Today we read a fun book called Pete the Cat and the Cool Caterpillar by James Dean. In this book, Pete finds a new friend; a caterpillar. But when his new cater pilling friend goes missing, he begins searching for him and finds a butterfly. This book explains to children how the lifecycle for a butterfly begins and how they drastically change throughout the process. During our literacy and fine motor activity we used paint to make Kandinski circle art with our fingers. Kandinski is a famous painter from Russia who used beautiful colors to make layers of circles. To paint our Kandinski shapes we used our math and cognition skills by identifying circles both large and small. For our sensory and science activity, we took fake bugs and made play dough fossils. We created our fossils by flattening the play dough and pushing the fake bugs into it. Then we used a magnifying glass to examine the imprint they left behind. Though they are tiny, we are learning what a big impact bugs have on our world!
