Happy Thursday! Today we read Little Bat by Tania Cox and illustrated by Andrew McLean. In the book, a little bat is learning how to fly but is scared. Many different flying animals encourage him to try, including a butterfly! In the end the little bat flew with the help of his other flying friends. During our sensory and science activity, we did a caterpillar to butterfly science experiment. In this experiment, we turned a caterpillar into a butterfly when the chemical reaction blew air into the balloon from the bottle. This butterfly was made from the reaction of vinegar and baking soda mixing together. In our math and cognition group, we made a number 2 ladybug craft. We made this number of the week creation by coloring our number and lady bug polka dots in. Then we used our fine motor skills to cut out our number and circles so that we could glue our pieces together to make our ladybug. We also added eyes, a mouth, and antenna.
