Today we read Diary of a Spider by Doreen Cronin. In this book a spider writes about what happens to him on different days and how he learns important life lessons from his grandpa. Hi grandpa talks about how it's important not to sleep in shoes so he doesn't get squished when people put them on! During our sensory and science activity, we looked in a bug filled sensory bin with some magnifying glasses that allowed us to take a closer look in order to identify them and count their legs. For our next activity, we traced our name with string and glued it onto paper. This activity required us to utilize our fine motor and literacy skills. In our math and cognition group, we took nets to do a "bop the bugs counting". These "bugs" were balloons that had differing numbers written on the side. These numbers signified how many times we had to "bop the balloon" with our bug nets before they hit the ground. Sometimes we think we should be scared of bugs but this week is helping us learn how some bugs are very important to keeping our environment healthy!
