Today we read The Cat and the Bird in the Hat by Norman Bridwell. In this book, the cat puts on a hat that he found, but to his surprise, a bird was living in it! They decided to share the hat and helped each other out so that they can both enjoy using it. During our sensory and science activity, we made a homemade bird feeder. We crafted the bird feeder by spreading peanut butter all over the outside of a paper towel roll and then we rolled the peanut butter covered roll into some bird seed and looped a string through it to tie a knot. Our hope is to hang it outside when we go home and see all of the beautiful birds that live around us! We also made a bird nest craft using our fine motor and literacy skills. We glued our eggs onto our nests and wrote our names on the eggs. We used our math and cognition skills to count all the letters that make up each of our names.
