Happy Monday! This week we are learning about birds and trees! During our story time today, we read The Pigeon Finds a Hotdog by Mo Willems. In this book, the pigeon finds a hotdog and asks a duckling if they had ever had a hotdog and even though he really did not want to, he ended up sharing it. This book emphasized the importance of sharing with our friends. For our sensory and science activity, we looked in our sensory bins and found pinecones and different sized bird feathers. We talked about how the feathers were soft and light and that the pinecones were rough. In order to strengthen our ability to define colors, we used our fine motor and cognition skills to match colored popsicle sticks to the corresponding section on the color coated paper. To further work on our fine motor skills, we made a bird craft. Our bird craft used a circle for the body of the bird and then we glued on a triangle beak, a feather, and an eye. Our activities today helped us learn about birds and their feathers and how they come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors!
