HAPPY EARTH DAY! We had such a great time learning about our earth and how important it is to take care of it and clean up after ourselves. Today we read Ducks in Muck by Lori Haskins and illustrated by Valeria Petrone. This book has some friendly ducks that get stuck in the muck with some trucks and they have to find their way out of the muck. Our activities were today were focused on Earth Day and our number of the week; three! In our math and cognition group, we utilized our fine motor skills to connect the dots to make the number three. We then used our hands and stamp pads to make a giant handprint Earth in our literacy and fine motor activity. For our sensory and science activity, we cleaned up an oil spill that happened in our ocean. We used vegetable oil, water, and blue food dye to symbolize the oil spill. We really enjoyed talking about how important it is to keep the Earth clean so that we can enjoy our land and all that it gives us.
