To continue our winter clothes theme this week, we read The Mitten at circle time. For our first small group activity, we did story retelling, putting the animals from the book in order from first to eighth. We hung numbered, long socks on a clothesline for our second small group. As our whole group activity, we wore gloves and painted on textured paper. It was a great Thursday!

Today, during circle time, we read Bella Gets Her Skates On. For our first small group activity, we used foil and circle mats to skate with. We also compared which ones were easier to use and helped us skate faster! For our second small group activity, we sorted through winter attire and grouped the different items together in bowls. For our final and large group activity, we got to paint our very own ice skate. We had a wonderful Wednesday.

Today, during circle time, we read The Hat. For our first small group activity, we practiced our matching skills by putting crazy colored socks together. For our second small group activity, we had a winter clothes race. We stood next to our competitor and when the teacher said go, we put on the hats, scarves, and coats as quickly as we could to win the race. For our final and large group, we discussed the hat from our book, and then decorated a hat of our own by writing our names on them and drawing pictures. We had a terrific Tuesday.

Today, during circle time, we read One Mitten. For our first small group, we identified numbers on mittens and then put the corresponding amount of buttons on them. For our second small group, we talked about the difference between gloves and mittens. Then, we put on one mitten or glove and held ice in both hands to compare which one felt colder. For our final and large group, we laced paper mittens with our letter of the week (N) on them.

Today, during circle time, we read The Night Before Thanksgiving. For our first small group activity, we practiced our fine motor skills by lacing beads onto feathers! For our second small group activity, we matched feathers to their turkeys by matching the shapes on the feathers to the shapes on the turkeys. For our final and large group, we finger painted and made pictures of pies. We even used pumpkin spice to make our pictures seem like real pies! After activities, we played outside until it was time to start our Family Feast. We filled our tummies with yummy food and spent time with friends and family. We had a terrific Tuesday.
