Sorting and Scrubbing Animals!

Today, we read Eight Silly Monkeys. Next, we sorted animals by size and labeled them. Then, we gave our animals a sponge bath. We had lots of fun with all the soapy water and sponges! Later, we crumbled construction paper and stuck it to contact paper. We also rode scooters and played with bean bags in the motor room!

Today, we read Kiss Kiss. Next, we put together animal print puzzles and tried to guess what animal the print belonged to. Then, we made animal footprints in play dough. Later, we stamped animal pictures. In the motor room we jumped through hoops like a kangaroo!

It's Zoo Week!

This week is Zoo week! Today, we read Let's Go to the Zoo! Next, we explored different textures with a sensory walk/crawl. Then, we built enclosures for our animals with wooden blocks. We also made a lion with contact paper and orange construction paper. Later, we explored the sensory table by scooping up colorful lentils and pouring them into funnels!

Today, we read The Best Mouse Cookie! Next, we made chocolate chip cookies! When we melted the butter in the microwave we talked about how it was a hard solid and then it melted into a runny liquid because it got hot. As we mixed the cookies we talked about the sequencing of what happened in the story. Then, we sorted cookies by the color of the chips in the cookies. Later, we colored cookie pictures with crayons. Have a great weekend!

Today, we read If You Give a Pig a Party. Next, we explored tactile balloons. We talked about the colors of the balloons and how they felt. Then, we matched dogs to the doghouses with the corresponding color. Later, soaked up water with sponges and transferred it to another bowl. Someone else decided it was a good idea to scrub the table with our sponges since he dripped water on it. We had a great day!

Today, we read When Sheep Sleep! Next, we explored sizes and measuring by trying to put different items into paper towel tubes to see what fit and what was too big. Then, we explored soft and hard by finding different items around the room for each category. Later, we drew on the easels with chalk! We had a great day!

Today, we read If You Give a Cat a Cupcake. Next, we used yarn and ribbon to decorate pretty collages, and then we put fuzzy stick sprinkles on play dough cupcakes. We matched the colors of the sprinkles to the cupcakes, counted the sprinkles on each cupcake, and talked about more and less. Later, we mixed shaving cream and glue to make cupcake pictures! We had a great day!
