Today, during circle time we read The Silly Snow Day. For our first small group, we explored with ice and water beads in the sensory bin. For our second small group, we made ice castles and igloos out of sugar cubes. For our final small group, we used blue and white beads and laced them on pipe cleaners to create snow flakes. We had a wonderful Wednesday.

Today's book went along with the weather, it was titled Winter. We carried out that theme through our activities, first by sorting snow balls! We used tongs to grab them, and then sorted them by size. For our second activity, we put ice cubes in a cup and then put a line on the cup as a guess for how high the water would be after the ice melted. During our large and final group, we practiced writing our letter of the week " O" in snowy shaving cream! We had a terrific Tuesday.

Today, we received a special package from the North Pole and got to open it at circle time. The package came with a book about our Elf on the Shelf. We read it to know how to take care of our elf that we have now named Fisbee. For our first small group activity, we went ice fishing and identified the numbers on the fish. For our second small group activity, we used pipets and warm water to melt the ice around our foam letters, and when it melted, we identified the letters that we thawed. For our final and large group, we made icicles out of foil and then put sparkly, blue glitter on them to make them shine. We had a magnificent Monday.

Fun day Friday calls for movie watching during circle time! Instead of our usual book reading, we watched a video based off of the book The Mitten. We also based our first activity off of the book, by identifying which animals got in the mitten and then pretending to be those animals, climbing inside the giant mitten that Mrs. Kat made! For our second activity, we made patterns by using pictures of different clothing we use in the winter time. For our final activity, we talked about how the mitten was a different color in the movie compared to the book and then we chose which color we wanted to paint our mitten with! We had a fantastic Friday.
