Today we had our visitor from the MU extension come back and talk to us about the food group, vegetables. She read a book called Oliver's Vegetables by Alison Barlett and Vivian French. In this book, Oliver plays a game with his grandpa where he finds things in the garden and tries them even though he is picky. We also got to each try a snow pea after we read the book and some of our friends really liked them and wanted another one while other friends didn't like them at all but still tried them. For our first activities, we matched animal heads to their correct tail. We did this activity using our math and cognition skills. In our next activity, we stayed in a small group and looked into our sensory bin using our science and sensory skills. When we looked inside of our sensory bin we found a bunch of creepy spiders and spider webs. We also did a drawing exploration in a large group where we drew animals for our fine motor activity. We drew a bunch of different animals just like Eric Carle did in his book.
