Today we read Smiley Shark by Ruth Galloway. The shark in this book can't find any friends in the ocean because they are all afraid of him until he rescues them from a fisherman's net and they all become friends. For our large group activity, we drew what a beach looks like. We drew different sea creatures, the sand, and the water using our fine motor skills. In our first small group activity, we used our math and cognition skills to recognize numbers. We colored in the number 10 bubbles so that the baby shark could get across the ocean to his fish friends. We also made seashell fossils in our other small group. We made these fossils by pushing seashells into play dough using our sensory and science skills. To add to the fun, we also found a turtle outside this morning while we were playing and brought him onto our playground to visit! When it was time to go inside, we set him free back in the grass.
