With another Tuesday comes another gardening unit activity with Mrs. Ashley! After reading a story about fruit salad, we got to color a picture of a strawberry. As we colored our pictures, Mrs. Ashley showed us how to make a fruit salad smoothie! We identified the ingredients as she poured them in the blender and then we all got to try a small cup of her delicious snack. Our regular activities brought us back to our Independence Day theme. For the first small group, we practiced our counting skills by identifying numbers on flags and adding the corresponding number of stars. We identified uppercase and lowercase letters on flags for the second activity and matched them together. Finally, as a whole group, we created salt and watercolor fireworks. First, we drew our version of fireworks with glue. Next, we sprinkled and poured salt on the glue. Then, we used pipettes and eye droppers to drip color on our salt creations and watched as the colors spread across our pictures. Taking advantage of the cooler temperature, and the fact that the rain has held off, we spent most of the morning outside on the playground! It was a terrific Tuesday!
