With weather as our theme this week, we read Extraordinary Wild Weather at circle time. We discussed our experiences with lightning and thunder, and focused on that for our activities. Our first small group practiced letter recognition by jumping from clouds to labeled lightning bolts when called or given a sound. For our second activity, we identified different materials as weather types, and used our scale to measure out different amounts to compare their weights. Then, as our final small group, we conducted an experiment to demonstrate when warm and cold fronts meet. By adding blue, cold water and warm, red water to a clear container, we watched to see how the water was displaced before it mixed. We had a terrific Tuesday!
