As an ending to this week, we had our cultural day. During circle time, we read All About Australia and discussed the difference in the country's flag to ours, animals and plants found there, and the most common foods and pastimes on that continent. For our first small group activity, we sorted American and Australian coins, identifying the similarities and differences among the groups. We used our rhythm sticks as "clapping sticks" and practiced a new song in our second activity. Then, all together, we made koala bears. We painted our paper plates gray and then put on eyes, muffin liner ears, a nose, and a mouth to create our Australian animals. We had a fun Friday!
