Today, during circle time, we read A Color of My Own. For our first small group, we matched colored letters to their corresponding squares, identifying both the letters and colors. For our second small group, we practiced counting by matching colored coins to their corresponding circles. For our final small group, we used eyedroppers to drop water color in a tub of baby oil, and then we talked about how it reacted. We had a magnificent Monday.

To end the week, we watched a video of the book Biscuit's Picnic. For our first small group activity, we matched pictures of common picnic items and made patterns with them. We participated in an experiment with baking soda, vinegar, and watermelon as our second small group. We filled watermelon halves with baking soda and food coloring, then after we sprayed them with vinegar, we played in the bubbly watermelon! For our last activity, all together, we used our senses to explore slices of watermelon. We talked about how our pieces smelled, felt, and tasted! It was a fantastic Friday!

Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11 - CLOSED for Teacher Work Week 

Today, Mrs. Ashley came to visit us again! She read the book, Healthy Snacks with Blue. After the book, we got to try green bell peppers with ranch. Then, we talked about what they tasted like and if we liked them. Due to the rainy weather, we played games inside, including the parachute! This afternoon, our stars of the week shared their special items with us, and we even had a dance party at circle time to one of their favorite songs! We had such a fun time!

Guess what day it is? WATER DAY! We spent the morning splashing and exploring water sensory bins! We had so much fun, but we're ready to learn more about picnics tomorrow.

Today, during circle time, we read Picnic. For our first small group, we dipped fly swatters in paint  and created a picture by swatting the flies on the paper! For our second small group, we laced hot dogs with yellow and red pipe cleaners to look like mustard and ketchup. For our final small group, we counted the seeds on watermelons and identified the numbers! We had a terrific Tuesday.

Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11 - CLOSED for Teacher Work Week 

Today, during circle time, we read Fun in the Sun. For our first small group, we identified numbers by matching ant puzzles together. One part of the ant had dots, the other side had the corresponding number, and when you put them together, they created an ant! For our second small group, we matched letters and made picnic blankets. For our final small group, we smashed blueberries on a plate, coffee filter, and a bowl and we're going to see which one attracts more ants. We had a marvelous Monday.
