We are still having a blast learning about our numbers. Today we read Little Quack Counts by Lauren Thompson and illustrated by Derek Anderson. In this book, Little Quack and his sister learns to count and recognize their numbers. During our first activity, we used our literacy skills to listen to our book on tape. We listened to a book called Chicka Chicka 1,2,3 by Bill Martin and Michael Sampson. We used what we learned in the book for our magnetic tree numbers. We used our sensory and science skills to have our numbers climb up our trees just like the numbers in the book did. For our math and cognition activity, we counted the dots that were on our colored dominos. We also recognize each color that the dominos were.

 Today we read Ten Little Ladybugs by Melanie Gerth. In this book, we watched each lady disappear as we counted them down until they were all gone. During our sensory and science activity, we looked into our number sensory bin. Our sensory bin was full of many colored numbers that we played with. Then we used our math and cognition skills to recognize different shapes and numbers. As we recognized each of our shapes, we used our fine motor skills to color in each of them or draw a small shape in each bigger one.

We are so glad to be back to CLC after all of our snow days we had last week. Today we read I Spy Numbers by Jean Marzollo and illustrated by Walter Wick. This book made us look at its pictures and find all of the different numbers and objects that it asked us to find. For our first activity, we used our fine motor skills to trace over many numbers. We traced the numbers one through ten on our papers using markers. Then, we used our sensory and science skills to make different numbers into playdough. As we played with our playdough we used our math skills to recognize the different numbers we cut out and what colors of playdough each of our friends were playing with.
