Today, during circle time, we read Run, Turkey, Run. For our first small group activity, we pulled the turkey's feathers off, and then put them back on by attaching the felt loops around the buttons. For our second small group activity, we identified numbers on cherry pies and then used tongs to put that many cherries (red pom-poms) on the pies! For our final and large group, we used the corn that we shucked last week as brushes to paint and stamp with. We had a marvelous Monday.

Today, during circle time, we read The Best Thanksgiving Ever.  After circle time, we celebrated one of our classmate's birthdays! For our first small group, we practiced writing our number of the week, which was 3, in corn and in seeds. For our second small group, we used pictures of pies to make patterns, and we even matched pies together! For our final and large group, we used paint and fuzzy sticks to make turkey footprints on paper. We had a fantastic Friday.

Today, during circle time, we read The Amazing Turkey Rescue. For our first small group, we took turns reaching inside a mystery bag and identifying letters we grabbed, along with their sounds. If we grabbed a picture of a turkey from the bag, we would stand up and all act like turkeys! For our second small group, we explored a Thanksgiving sensory bin filled with cranberries, water, and a special fall spice mix. We even explored special cooking tools that would be used for Thanksgiving feasts, too! For our large group activity, we used shapes to make patterns on Native American headbands. We had a terrific Thursday.

Today, during circle time we read One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pilgrims. For our first small group, we put corn on stalks by identifying numbers written by the stalks and then adding that many ears of corn to them. For our second small group, we made corn dance! We used water, vinegar, and baking soda to make the corn move all over the bowl. For our final and large group, we had a race to see who could shuck their corn the fastest! We had a wonderful Wednesday.

Today, during circle time, we read Bear Gives Thanks. For our first small group, we identified numbers drawn on turkeys, and then gave the turkeys that many craft stick feathers. For our second small group, we had feather races! We used turkey basters to blow air at the feathers, and tried to get them past the finish line before our opponents. For our large group, we colored with markers on coffee filters to create feathers for our turkeys, and then we sprayed the filters with water to watch the colors spread all over. After decorating the feathers, we used different materials to make the turkeys' bodies that we will later glue the feathers onto. We had a terrific Tuesday.
