Today, during circle time we read Freight Train. For one of our small groups we rolled dice and whatever number we got was how many marbles we put in the back of the dump truck. For our second small group we practiced hole-punching by punching holes into our train ticket. For our final small group we explored dirt and construction vehicles in our sensory bin. We had an awesome day.

Today, during circle time we read Trying to Understand. For our first small group we looked at emoji cut outs and discussed what they were feeling. For our second small group we revealed different faces by smoothing foil over faces made with hot glue on cardboard. For our final small group we used the scale to weigh out negative emotions compared to happy emotions and saw which one weighed more, by using marbles. We had a fantastic Friday.

To continue our theme of friends and feelings, we read Understand and Care at circle time. We discussed how the characters in the pictures felt, and talked about situations we had been in that made us feel those ways. For our first small group activity, we sorted pictures of faces as happy or sad. We conducted a science experiment with water, pepper, and dish soap to represent what happens when we are mean to our friends for our second small group. After taking turns shaking pepper into our bowl of water, we dropped in dish soap and watched the pepper run away. Then, as our large group activity, we played a turn taking game. We pulled fuzzy sticks that were holding pom-poms in a strainer and counted how many fell out as we went. All in all, today was a wonderful Wednesday!

Today, during circle time Mrs. Ashley came back to visit! Only this time, we discussed vegetables and after doing so we did vegetable exercises. For one of our small groups we chose pink paper if we were a girl, blue paper if we were a boy, and then we counted how many friends we had in our group. For our second small group we compared mean words to sand paper, and felt how rough it was and discussed that it didn't feel good. We also compared nice words and nice actions to soft cotton balls. For our large group we decorated strands of our friendship chain, and then linked it all together. We had an amazing day.
