We read, Wind and Clouds by Marion Baur during circle time today. In small groups, we counted weather themed objects, like lightning bolts, clouds, rain drops, suns, etc. and we pointed out the corresponding written number on our cards. Next, we did a fine motor, felt cutting activity. Finally, we did an experiment! We took shaving cream and sprayed it on top of water and then we put drops of food coloring on top to watch the "rain" go through the cloud and into the clear water. Later, we are going to check and see if it's still raining!

      Today, during circle time, we read "Let it Rain" by Maryann Cocca-Leffler. Then, we did our weather themed activities. In our literacy group, we read weather sentences, where we named what item of clothing we wear in certain weather conditions. We learned that when it rains we use an umbrella and when it's sunny we wear sunglasses. Next, we played in the sensory bin for sensory/science. For math/cognition, we counted rain drop, pom poms, and named the numbers that were written on umbrellas.

We're back! This week's theme is, weather! Today, during circle time, we read, "The Wind Blew," by Pat Hutchins. Our color this week is gray and our number of the week is one. In small groups, we discussed tornadoes! We laced a tornado, which is the shape of a cone, using yarn. Then, we named letters that were written on lightning bolts. Finally, we made our own "tornado" using two bottles filled with water and we filled the "tornado" with "debris." We will continue to discuss our shape of the week, a cone. We are excited to be back at school with our friends!
