Today, during circle time we read The Little Penguin.  For our first small group activity, we practiced matching by identifying shapes drawn on penguins and finding their corresponding penguin. For our second small group activity, we matched letters drawn on polar bears. For our final small group activity, we used vegetable shorting on our finger as blubber to help keep us warm in ice cold water, like polar animals! We had a great day. 

Today, during circle time we read Penguins, Penguins, Everywhere. During activity time, we identified colored snowballs and matched them to the same colored penguin. We also practiced writing our names by tracing the letters in them. For our final activity, we explored the sensory bin filled with ice and talked about how cold it would be to live as a polar animal. We had a "Winter"-ful Wednesday!

Today, we had a special delivery from the North Pole. They sent us an elf, that we named Dasher, to watch us to be sure we're on our best behavior. For circle time, we read There Once Was a Cold Lady, Who Swallowed some Snow. For our first small group activity, we used large, medium, and small polar bears to create patterns. For our second small group, we identified animals as farm animals or arctic animals and sorted them into piles. For our final small group, we practiced tracing the letter "O". We had a terrific Tuesday.

It's a brand new week, which means a new theme! We're learning all about polar animals, and spent circle time reading Penguins. For our first activity, we matched pictures of penguins by identifying the letter written on them. For our second activity, we made polar animal foot prints in play-doh and identified the animals. For our final small group, we identified and matched numbers written on Emperor penguins. We had a marvelous Monday.

Today, during circle time we read Frog Goes to Space. For our first small group, we made patterns with the moon and stars. For our second small group, we practiced puzzle work by putting together pictures of planets. For our final small group, we did a science experiment with warm and cold water to compare the temperatures living on Venus and Neptune.  We made the water white and blue to look like life on that planet and we picked which planet we'd prefer to live on.

Today, during circle time we read Stars, Stars, Stars. For our first small group activity, we used our hand prints to make aliens! In our second small group, we identified numbers written on stars, and then put that many moon rocks on the star. For our final small group, we practiced our lacing skills by  lacing different planets! We had a space-tastic day!

To continue learning about Space, we read Little Star at circle time. In our first small group, we practiced our fine motor skills by using clothespins to make the number of pictures on our cards. In our second group, we got to work on writing our names in rocket ships! In our final small group, we played with "moon sand" and talked about how the moon is different from Earth. Today was a terrific Tuesday!
