Today, during circle time, we read Making Friends. For our first small group activity, we discussed emotions with pictures of animals making faces, and then we used clothespins to identify which animals' facial expressions matched. For our second small group activity, we compared the feeling of cotton balls to sand paper. We discussed how using nice words and actions with our friends is soft and feels nice like the cotton ball, while yelling or being mean would compare to the sand paper. For our final and large group, we practiced "rubbings" by putting cardboard with faces drawn in hot glue under our papers and then coloring over them to make the face appear! We had a terrific Thursday.

Today, during circle time we watched a video about Martin Luther King Jr. For our first small group activity, we sorted through pictures of emotions and matched them together in the sensory bin. For our second small group activity, we compared a brown egg to a white egg and then we cracked them open to discuss how even though they're different on the outside, they have the same insides just like we as people do. For our final and large group activity, we colored a picture of the world and then we put our hand prints on the picture to show how our hands can help change the world. We had a wonderful Wednesday.

Today, during circle time we read Skippyjon Jones Goes Up and Down. For our first small group activity, we practiced sorting by sorting different materials based on if they were bugs or not. For our second small group activity, we matched sizes and colors to kites and identified which kites were big and which were small. For our final and large group, we made the last page of our opposites book and it consisted of comparing night and day or dark and light. We had a fantastic Friday.

 

Today, during circle time we read Stop is the Opposite of Go. For our first small group activity, we matched pictures by identifying the opposite of what the picture was. For our second small group activity, we did a science experiment by putting gummy bears in different types of water. Such as cold, hot, and salt water and then we guessed if the bears would shrink or grow. For our final and large group activity, we created another page in our opposites book by comparing objects that were hard and soft. We had a terrific Thursday.

Today, during circle time, we read What's Up Duck? For our first small group activity, we talked about the opposites in sound, and then made quiet and loud shakers. For our second small group activity, we discussed how the opposite of empty is full, as we filled up one bubble gum machine with stickers and left the other one blank. For our final and large group, we made another page in our opposites books, comparing straight lines to curvy lines. We had a wonderful Wednesday.
