It's not the end of our week, so that means it's the beginning! We started our opposites week by reading Inside, Outside, Upside-Down at circle time. For our first small group activity, we compared the weights of objects by using a scale, and talked about how heavy was the opposite of light. For our second small group activity, we talked about floating and sinking, and then chose objects to put in a tub of water to see what would float and what would sink. For our final and large group, we practiced writing our names and decorating the front cover of our opposites book! We had a marvelous Monday.

Today, during circle time, we listened to The Kindness Quilt. For our first small group activity, we sorted through fabrics of all of sorts of colors and textures, and then matched them together. For our second small group activity, we used q-tips to make polkadots on the letter "Q". For our final and large group, we used Legos, scissors, and other utensils to create patterns in our Play Doh, and put pieces together that looked like quilts. We had a fantastic Friday!

Today, during circle time, we watched and listened to the book The Quilt on the iPad. For our first small group activity, we worked on letter recognition by matching cards to our alphabet quilts. For our second small group activity, we practiced weaving in the sensory bin, and used all sorts of yarn and materials to compare what was easier or harder. For our final and large group, we used shapes and colors to create our own quilts! We had a wonderful day.

To start our new week, we read Charlie Needs A Cloak. With our focus on keeping warm, we made our very own quilts with shapes of different materials and fabrics in our first small group activity. For our second small group, we practiced number recognition and counting skills as we matched cards on our number quilts. As our last activity, we decorated a "Class Quilt" all together. We even got to bowl in the motor room since it was too cold out! It was a wonderful Wednesday!
