As an ending to our first week back at school, we read Pete the Cat: The Wheels on the Bus at circle time. We had a blast singing along with the story! For one activity, we practiced our gluing skills by filling small circles with dots of glue. We explored the sensory table, for our second small group, and looked for specific school supplies. After reaching a collective classroom goal, we chose to watch part of a favorite movie for our last group activity. It was an amazing Friday! 

Today, during circle time, we read Dinosaur Starts School. For our first small group, we made our own crayon boxes by adding in different colored crayons, labeled with letters, that spelled our names. For our second small group, we played a guessing game! We reached our hands into a paper sack inside of a school bus and guessed which school supply we were grabbing out. For our final small group, we counted crayons and put them in the corresponding boxes. We had an awesome day.

Today, during circle time, we read Llama Llama Misses Mama. For our first small group, we put stop signs on buses by matching the letters together. For our second small group, we drove buses through sensory bins and followed the path to get to the other side of the obstacle course! For our final and large group, we made buses by decorating halved paper plates with shapes and coloring them yellow and orange. We had a wonderful Wednesday.

To continue our back to school theme, we read Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes at circle time. For our first small group activity, we counted shoes and clipped clothes pins to identify the numbers we counted. We helped Pete the Cat maneuver around the school bus by working on our position words in our second small group. Finally, in our last small group activity, we played a game to find Pete the Cat hiding behind shoes by taking turns and identifying colors. It was a terrific Tuesday! 

Today, during circle time, we watched a fun facts video about the eclipse after reading The Best Teacher Ever. For our first small group, we chose our favorite colors and put our hand prints on our first day of school papers. For our second small group, we put crayons in their corresponding colored boxes, identifying the colors and spelling the words as we went. For our final small group, we traced the letter A in rice, discussed things that started with A, and even spelled our names. We had a fantastic first day!
