Today, during circle time, we watched a video about Egypt, did a mummy dance, and then sang happy birthday to one of our classmates for his birthday! For our first small group, we used glitter, tissue paper, beads, and sequins to make sensory egyptian collars. For our second small group, we did an hieroglyphic letter search in the sensory bin. For our final small group, we built pyramids and counted how many blocks we needed to create our pyramid. We had a fantastic Friday.

As our week gets closer to an end, we continued our work on letters and numbers by reading Little Quack's ABC at circle time. For our first small group activity, we matched letters by clipping labeled clothes pins on craft sticks. We went fishing for letters in the quiet room and identified all those that we caught for our second small group. Lastly, we traced letters at the tables with straws and paint for our large group activity. It was a great Thursday!

Monday, August 21 - First Day of 2017-2018 School Year 

To continue our theme of letters and numbers before the start of the new school year, we read When Tilly Turtle Came to Tea at circle time. Our first small group activity consisted of exploring the sensory table. We got to dig, and even draw, in glittery sand as we searched for letters and numbers to identify! We put Lego blocks together by matching letters for our second small group. Then, for our final small group activity, we recited the alphabet and used hole punches to mark as we went along. We had a wonderful Wednesday!

Monday, August 21 - First Day of 2017-2018 School Year 

Today, during circle time, we read X-Ray Fish Gets a Xylophone. For our first small group, we used alphabet stamps to make letters appear in our Play Doh. The stamps even had fun animals whose names corresponded with the letters. For our second small group, we colored alphabet and number sheets. As we colored all the A's, the letter A appeared, and when we colored all the 1's, the number 1 appeared! For our large group, we matched numbers by putting Bandaids on our teddy bears' numbered boo boos. We had a terrific Tuesday.
