Today, during circle time, we read Chicka, Chicka, 1 2 3. For our first small group, we traced the letter S with different colored star stickers. For our second small group, we traced numbers and letters in shaving cream. For our large and final group, we painted with water color on mystery paper and numbers appeared! We had a marvelous Monday.

Monday, August 21 - First Day of 2017-2018 School Year

Today, before our super fun field trip, we got to learn about our Star of the Week! After reading his favorite book and having breakfast, we took off to MyPlayhouse and had the best time. We got to play in a bounce house, ride on cars, and even pretend we were grocery shopping! We want to say thank you to everyone who helped make this field trip possible, and to wish everyone a fun week off next week.

Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11 - CLOSED for Teacher Work Week 

Continuing our week of colors and shapes, we read Freight Train at circle time. We followed along, counting the train cars and identifying the colors on each page. For our first small group activity, we identified shapes and worked together to sort them at the table. We conducted an experiment in the quiet room with 3D shapes and books. We folded pieces of paper into different shapes, and after identifying them, we predicted which paper would hold the most books. Then, we took turns stacking books on the shapes to see which was the strongest and could hold the most. All together, as a large group, we traced shapes with colorful pom-poms. It was a wonderful Thursday!

Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11 - CLOSED for Teacher Work Week 

Today, during circle time, we read The Crayon Box that Talked. For our first small group, we identified colors of pom-pom balls and dropped them into the corresponding tubes. For our second small group, we made kaleidoscopes and decorated them by drawing shapes and patterns of all different colors to look at! For our large group, we each made a personal pan pizza, but not just any pizza...a shape pizza! It was intellectually delicious. We had a wonderful Wednesday.

Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11 - CLOSED for Teacher Work Week 

Today, during circle time, we read Mouse Paint. For our first small group, we identified letters and the colored squares they were on, and then matched them to the color and letter draw on our paper. For our second small group, we made designs and pictures after identifying colors and shapes! For our final small group, we used flashlights with colored paper over the bulbs to create colors on the walls and floors. We even crossed the lights in front of each other to see if we could create new colors! We had a terrific Tuesday.
