Today, we read The Kissing Hand. In small groups, we made patterns with hands and hearts and we finger-painted special back to school pictures! In large group, we laced beads onto fuzzy sticks. Some of us turned them into bracelets. 

We also welcomed back an old friend and had some new teachers today! Be sure to welcome Miss Roma, our soon-to-be group instructor, and Miss Felicia, our ECE aide!

It's Back to School week! Today, we read Preschool Day Hooray! In small groups, we explored shaving cream and we identified numbers and counted bears as we put them on the bus. In large group, we use paint dotters to decorate schoolhouses. We also played dress up, made lots of pretend food, played dollhouse, and played outside and in the motor room. We are so glad to have some old friends back and some new friends this week! Be sure to introduce yourself to our new assistant teacher, Miss Krissy!

Today, we read Strega Nona. In groups, we practiced cutting with play dough scissors and spaghetti noodles and we painted with spaghetti noodle brushes! We also did puzzles, built with blocks, played on the playground, played dress up and sang "Let it Go." Also, a big thanks to R and his family for our fun class pet hermit crabs! We will name them next week when all of our friends are back at school! Have a great weekend!

Today, we read Clap Your Hands! In one group, we built with Lego blocks and talked about patterns. In the other group, we explored shaving cream and mixing colors. We mixed red and yellow to make orange! Later, we stack blocks and laced beads. We also played outside and sang with rhythm sticks.

Today, we read Corduroy! Next, we sorted buttons by size and color. Then, we painted bears with textured sponges. When they are dry, we're going to give them buttons! Later, we laced with large buttons! We also played on the playground and blew bubbles! We had a great day!

Today, we read When the Fly Flew In. Next, we went outside and took our fly swatters! We dipped the fly swatters in water and then swatted flies! (They were drawn with chalk.) The flies were numbered, so we identified the number and then counted to the number. We used fly swatters for painting and used tongs and tweezers to pick flies out of the sensory table! We also had one of our friends come back today! We had a fun day!

Today was a fun first day back! This week we are enjoying a few of our favorite books! Today's book was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! We had fun stomping our feet along with the "BOOM BOOMs" in the story. In our groups, we explored letters and magnets in the sensory table by picking up the letters with the magnets and spelling out our names. We matched colors and letters with our alphabet alligators and then, we stamped the first letters of our names! We also played in the motor room and made music!
