Today during circle time, we read "Little Quack's New Friend," by Lauren Thompson. In small groups, we practiced our math and cognition skills with a duck on the pond activity where we named different shapes and colors on the bottoms of a duck matching game. Then, we did a fine motor and literacy activity where we either traced our names with pond rocks or outlined rocks and wrote each letter of our name inside the rock outline. Finally, we all got together in a large group and made "snail slime." Each of our friends took turns stirring the slime until we came up with a good consistency. We even got to smell the slime and it smelled like strawberries and blue raspberry. Another concept we covered included mixing the blue and red gelatin to create the color purple.

Snail Slime Recipe:
2 cups warm water
2 cups cornstarch (or more if you need to thicken)
2-3 boxes of gelatin mix (we used 3 and extra corn starch as well)
It's all about experimenting and adding each ingredient until you reach the desired consistency.
