We had another fantastic water day! For our math and cognition activity we used water to paint numbers and our names on the water board outside. Then for our sensory/science activity, we took white towels and tie dyed them with a spray bottle. We used our fine motor skills to spray the color onto the towels. We used our water tables and played with lots of water toys during water day. We also had fun in our sprinkler.

Today we read a book called It's Okay to Make Mistakes by Todd Parr.  We also got to hear Roots from our special guest Miss Ashley from the MU Health Extension.  She brought plastic vegetables that are picked from the ground and had each child wash one so they know what to do with a vegetable that has "roots".  Afterwards, they got to go spray their radish plants and check on their growth.  Next, we did an activity for math, cognition and fine motor skills making fountain firework pictures with paint and cut toilet paper rolls.  At last, we had a special sensory and science activity where we all went to the parking lot and watched Miss Adrienne make a "firework" with a 2 liter bottle of Coca-Cola and a Mentos.  Once the Mentos was dropped in, the Coca-Cola exploded out of the bottle and straight up into the air!  This was a fun experiment for all of us!

Today, Miss Ashley from the MU Extension came for story time. We had fun talking about how our radishes are growing and we did a sunflower craft. For sensory and science, we had an amazing water day! We filled our natural outdoor sinks with water and water toys and had a sprinkler. At last, we did an Independence Day activity for our math and cognition and literacy and fine motor skills. We used chalk to draw fireworks on black construction paper. Then, we counted the lines of Ms. Adrienne's firework.
