Today, during circle time, we listened and watched a book about the "Ugly Duckling" and we got to see as he turned from "ugly" into a beautiful swan. Then we worked on our small groups. First, we all got to pick a card that each had different bugs on them. Next, we went to the motor room and did a gross motor activity where our friends pretended to be different types of bugs. Each friend first acted out what motion that the bug was supposed to do, and then our friends all had a chance to do each movement as well. We had so much fun with this activity! We squirmed like worms, fluttered like a butterfly, buzzed like a bee, crawled like a spider, and more! Later, we went outside to do our other two activities. We did patterns, where we had plastic bugs that went along with what the patterns showed. We named the colors and types of bugs and said aloud the pattern. Finally, we had lady bugs with capital letters on their backs, and we matched their black spots with the corresponding letters.
