While at circle time, we discussed our new theme, which is Eric Carle. We talked about what an author and illustrator does, as well as talked about our favorite stories that Carle created. Then, we listened to Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? For our first small group activity, we identified the animals from the book and the shape that surrounded them. We also used dry erase markers to trace those shapes. We did a story-retelling activity in the second group by putting the phrases from the story in order and matching the animal pictures to their color words. Then, as the final activity, we explored "brown bear slime." We used our senses to describe the material and tried to use our fingers and tweezers to remove the "bear hair" from the goop. It was a fantastic Monday!
