We had a fun day today! We really enjoyed stacking and building. We built towers with large blocks and Legos and stacked our nesting cups. We read one of our Eric Carle books, Rooster's Off to See the World. As we read it we labeled, counted and imitated the animals in the book. We also started our contact paper butterflies that will be sent home later this week.

Caterpillars and Big Adventures!
This morning we worked our gross motor skills and had a big adventure playing on the preschooler playground! We rode tricycles, went down the big slide, push and pulled our friends in the wagon, played the playground instruments, and played in the house and the tunnel. Our little friends love to take it over! Thankfully, we beat the rain! We also read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and made our very own hand print caterpillars.

Brown Bear and Cotton balls!
This week is Eric Carle week. Today we read one of our favorite books, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? As we read the book we engaged in physical, verbal, and cognitive skills. We practiced our colors, animal sounds, and animal movements of each animal in the book. The goldfish page came to be a favorite throughout the day when the children where shown how to make fish lips. We did a fun activity with cotton balls. We explored their texture and practiced our fine motor skills by using tongs, scoops and our fingers to pick up the cotton balls. We also had fun playing outside with chalk, balls, and our ride on toys.

Playing Ball and Popping Bubbles!
Today we tried out a new activity we have never done before! We played with foamy bubbles and had a blast! First we just played and felt around in the bubbles. Things got really messy when brought our spoons, whisks, and cups into the mix. We talked about sharing with friends, ways friends can look different, and how good it is to have friends. We danced to Jack Johnson's "The Sharing Song", sang "1,2,3 You Are Friends With Me", and read Shades of Black: A Celebration of Our Children.

Helping Hands!
Today we found a new way to paint that our little friends really enjoyed. We mixed flour, salt, and food coloring to make our paint. After painting our pictures we put them in the microwave for 40 seconds and the paint puffed up! It made a very neat textured painting for the kids to feel. One little friend decided it would be nice to help out her friend with her painting. We also played Peek-a-Boo, follow the leader and read our book My Friend.

We had a friend who really liked to give out hugs today! We sang and danced to our friendly song "You Are My Sunshine" and read the book as well. We also read Owen and Mzee Best Friends. Our little friends had lots of fun with Mrs. Lynn reading and participating in our active book Llama Llama Hoppity-Hop.

Firetrucks/ Towers
Fun, fun, fun is how our day went. This tower was our favorite toy for the day. We all worked together taking turns to play with the tower. Today we talked a lot about emergency vechicles. We got out our firetruck and all the children went to our dramatic play area and grabbed costumes. We had a chef, firefighter, police officer, mail lady and a doctor. The firefighter got into the drivers spot and we took a trip. Singing a song to the tune of the wheels on the bus, but changing out the words to the wheels on the firetruck overall a really good day.

What We Did Today!
We had a lot of fun today singing our song "Six on a Blankie." Miss Jada came in after school and sang the song and played with us.
"Six on a Blankie"
There were six in the bed,
And the little one said, "Roll over! Roll over!"
So they all rolled over and one fell off!
Miss Jada fell off!
And then Miss Daria!
And then just the little one was left!
What We Did Today!
Today two of our little friends brought in their favorite quilts to share with the class. Our little friends thought it was very amusing to sit on the quilts and pull each other around the room. We also explored different types of fabrics and felt the differences in their textures.
