Mrs. Ashley stopped by again this morning. First, she read us a book about growing pumpkins. Then we looked around the room for numbered pumpkin pictures and put them in order. After the game, we took turns watering our pumpkin plants outside. As the first small group activity, we identified uppercase and lowercase letters on pool noodle rounds and tried to see how many we could stack. We explored the sensory bin for the second group that was filled with sail boats which we could identify letters, numbers, and shapes on the sails. Lastly, we took turns throwing and catching a numbered beach ball. It was such a terrific Tuesday!

Today, at circle time, we read A Day in the Sun. We discussed what activities we were able to do during Summer but not usually in the other seasons. For our first small group activity, we worked on one to one correspondence by counting watermelon seeds and then clipping the corresponding number symbols with clothespins. We put together watermelon puzzles in the second group by matching uppercase and lowercase letters. To finish, we explored the sensory bin filled with watermelon moon sand, tools, and numbered watermelon slices as the last activity. It was a marvelous Monday!

To end this week, we had our cultural day. The weather was so beautiful this morning that we held circle time on the playground. We watched a short video with facts about the country of France. We even got to practice a few words in French! For the first small group activity, we identified and continued patterns with pictures from French culture. We identified letters of our alphabet, and then listened and followed along to the song sang in French as the second small group. All together, for our last activity, we used our hands and paint rollers to create unique tape-resist Eiffel Towers! We had a fun Friday!

We read Colors at circle time today. We followed along and helped identify the colors on each page! As the first small group activity, we identified shapes on blocks and we stacked them into groups. Next, we listened to directions on which colors to use on which shapes and created mini booklets to take home in the second group. Then, as our last activity, we explored sensory bags filled with different colors of paint. After identifying what colors were in our bags, we mixed them together and watched as the colors changed! We had a fun Thursday!
