Today, we read 100 First Words and then we sang songs and played musical instruments. We painted with our dinosaurs feet and tails. Using the tails was H's idea! We made a dinosaur volcano with vinegar and baking soda. We stretched rubber bands to fit around paper towel tubes. B decided to put his rubber bands in his tubes instead of around them. We also enjoyed spending the morning with our friend, J! Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!

Today, we read The Mine-O-Saur, a booking about sharing. We cleaned rocks by scrubbing them with shaving cream and then we sprayed them with water to rinse them. We got the wooden rod and box activity out again by request, stamped with dinosaur stamps, and went on a dinosaur hunt.

Today, we read Dinosaur Hunt and then we searched through our sensory table to find dinosaur bones in the sand. We used tongs to pick the bones up, brushes to dust away the sand, and a magnifying glass to look at the bones. We counted rocks and placed each rock into its own special spot to practice one-to-one correspondence. We also filled a container with the rocks and then dumped them. Later, we made glue paintings, but sorry, no pictures.

Today, we read The Littlest Dinosaurs Big Adventure. We did an activity where we put dinosaurs and dinosaur cards into a container. During this activity, we practiced turn taking and patience. I also tested the children's self-control by handing them a card and asking them to hand it to a specific child. I'm sure they were tempted to put the card into the container, but they all refrained and handed it to their friend. This also helps them build relationships with each other. Next, We explored play dough with our dinosaurs by rolling and flattening the dough and then making prints with the dinosaurs. Later, we pushed different sized wooden rods through different sized holes in a box. We had a great day!

Dancing!

He found a different spot to put his dinosaur cards!
Working hard on the busy block!

This week is Dinosaur week! Today, we read Stomp! We matched mini dinosaur figures to printed pictures of dinosaurs and then we stomped like dinosaurs on bubble wrap! To build our fine motor skills, we did process art by tearing construction paper and then sticking it to contact paper.

Today, we read My First Hammer and My First Saw. We explored our pretend tool bench, did a puzzle with different tools, and explored dirt with our hands and with scoops. In the motor room, we rode on swings and scooters, and played ball with our friends. Later, we explored play dough with our pretend construction tools. We cut it with the saw, pounded it with the hammer, poked it with nails, and twisted bolts into it with the screwdriver. It was a fun new way to manipulate the play dough!
We hope everyone has a safe weekend! Stay warm!
