Today, during circle time, we read Aliens in Underpants Save the World. For our first small group, we used metal cans and shape magnets to make rocket ships! For our second small group, we painted glue on a balloon and stuck black paper to it, so that later we can pop the balloon and the shelling will resemble a space rock. For our final small group, we used magnet wands to drive cars down ABC or 123 roads, identifying the letters or numbers we saw on the drive. Snack was even special, as we ate applesauce with straws just like the astronauts! We had a fantastic Friday.

Today, during circle time, we read Planets Around the Sun. For our first small group, we counted pictures of things from space and then used clothes pins to identify and pin the number that corresponded with the amount of images. For our second small group, we filled bottles with plastic bingo chips and then used magnets to move the chips all around in the bottle. For our large group, we used blue and white to paint our very own space rocks! We had an amazing day.

Today, during circle time we read If We go to the Moon. For our first small group, we put rays on the sun we made on Monday. For our second small group, we had rocket ship races! We watched as our teacher blew a balloon with a rocket drawn on it and when they let it go, it shot down the line like it was taking off to the moon. After the race was done, we drew a picture of our very own rocket that would take us to space. For our final and large group, we used paint and star shaped cookie cutters to create our own picture of space! We had a wonderful Wednesday.

Today, during circle time, we read Stars! Stars! Stars! For our first small group, we created name rockets by using letters on the shapes and spelling our names. For our second small group, we played a star number toss game! We took turns tossing a yellow bean bag onto stars and identifying the number it landed on! For our final and large group, we painted a moon by using a space rock as our paint brush. It has been a terrific Tuesday.

To begin our new theme this week, we read My Book of Planets. For our first small group activity, we wrote or drew like astronauts, laying upside down under a table! Next, we looked at different constellations and used stickers to trace them as our second small group. Then, as our final small group activity, we used bags of paint to decorate suns that we will use for another activity later in the week. Today was a marvelous Monday!
