We got a new friend today! We read Germs Are Not for Sharing, Black on White, Shapes and My Friends. We explored colors with our color wheel and clothespins and then we explored colored lentils in our sensory table. The paper towel tube slides were a fun, new addition to the sensory table and we really enjoyed watching the lentils roll down the slides, falling from one to the other. We also manipulated play dough with and practiced cutting with play dough scissors.

Welcoming our new friend!

Things got a little wild with the lentils!

Today, we read Beautiful Oops! We made contact paper quilts with different fabric pieces and then we explored sensory bags. One bag had different sized marbles in gel and the other had different sized marbles with corn meal. It was fun to push the marbles around in the gel and to move the corn meal around to find the hidden marbles. We also practiced using tongs and scoops by transferring beads.

Being silly!

"Me too, DD!"

Today, we read The Big Red Ball and the Little White Kitten. We peeled up star stickers and stuck them to our starry blanket. We counted them and labeled their colors. Next, we explored moon sand that had buttons buried in it. We rearranged and crawled over our motor blocks and at the end was a pretty quilt!

Today, we read Shapes and identified circle, square, triangle, rectangle and oval and then we took turns identifying shapes and putting them into shape sorters. Next, we took turns pulling scarves out of the holey balls. We also laced felt squares on to crazy straws, played on the playground, danced to "Run, Baby, Run."

Dancing!

This week's theme is Quilts and Blankets! Today, we read Black on White! We took turns putting large buttons into a container of water and identified the colors of each button. It was interesting to watch the buttons fall through the water to the bottom of the container! Next, in the motor room we went on the swing, climbed on the climber, went down the slide, rode the scooters like a train, and played with rhythm sticks. Back in the classroom, we did the button activity again, tore and crumpled tissue paper and put it into bottles, and then we pulled each other around on blankets. We also played outside!

Today, we read The Opposite of Stop is Go, Pop-Up Opposites, and I Am Happy, a touch and feel feelings book. Next, we  explored items that were soft and hard. Then, we did a block puzzle and a colors puzzle. Later, we whisked water and soap together to make bubbles. We also built with legos, played outside, played kitchen, and played on the iPad! Have a great weekend!
