Dancing and Singing
We are learning about opposites this week. We sang "Open and Shut Them" and read Little Quacks Opposites. We did Here or There? We put a black pom-pom under a one of two bowls then moved them around and tried to guess which bowl the pom-pom was under. We also put the bowls right side up with the pom-pom inside and moved it around. This is teaching object permanence, knowing an object is still there even if it is not visible. This week we started something new, color of the week. We will be incorporating Black and White into our lesson plans along with pointing out these colors through out the week! We did marble painting with black and white paints. All of our toddlers loved shaking and rolling to make a masterpiece!

We read Mama Hen and Little Farm Friends. We sorted shapes in our barn sorter. We did Mama and baby animals matching. Then, we rolled piggies in the mud! We rolled marbles and brown paint inside a container along with a pig the result was a muddy piggy! Farm week is over, but we learned a lot and had a lot of fun in the process! We look forward to learning about opposites next week! Along with opposites we planed silly themes to go along with our lessons; Monday is inside out or backwards day, Tuesday dress in black or white, Wednesday is hat day, Thursday is mix match sock day, Friday CRAZY HAIR day!

Reading Five Little Chicks
We read Five Little Chicks and danced to " Ten Little Pigs". We counted our eggs. There was a total of 20; 6 red, 5 green, 4 blue and 5 yellow. We had a special visit from the Fire Fighters. Don't worry there wasn't a fire, just a visit to allow us to climb aboard the fire truck! Back to farm, we did farm puzzles with latch doors and touch and feel farm animals. Then we did farm stamping making our very own farms.

In our sensory center we have dry corn and farm animals. The children loved using the scoops to move the corn around and feed the farm animals. We worked with colors by doing color egg matching. We got out the large egg carton and made row of colors. We read Open the Barn Door, Big Red Barn and sang "Ring around the Apple Tree". What an awesome day on the farm!

After making our play-dough yesterday, today we rolled it, cut it and made pancakes and cookies. Don't get to excited, it's not edible! We drove "tractors" around the play ground. Then, we read Mama Hen and The Cow Moo's.  We love farm week!

This week's theme is about farms. It should be a very farm-tastic week! We started off by making play dough. The children loved to measure and dump out the ingredients of our play dough. We read Farm and Baby Animals  and we sang "Old MacDonald." Our toddlers decided to act out all the animal sounds and motions along with the song! We also made fences with connector blocks. We had a great day!

Today we were a musical marching band, we hoop hopped, jumped on bubble wrap, and did the hokey pokey. We were very musical! We explored our sensory blocks and did problem solving and cause effect with our musical star stacker. We also read  and danced with Llama Llama Hoppity-Hop. Another great day in the Toddler Room!

Parachute Music
Our class had a great day. In the motor room we made music by putting our shaky eggs and bells into the parachute. We all enjoyed the sound it made and had so much fun making the parachute go up and down. After reading Busy Toes the toddlers decided to pick up their puzzles pieces with their toes, just like in the book. (this was not in the lesson plan but was a lot of fun)

Scraping Music
Our toddlers had a very nice day. We went on the playground and collected rocks for a musical instrument will we make later in the week. We made sandpaper scraping instruments. We scraped them to together making a interesting musical sound. We read Let's Dance Little Pookie, while dancing along with Pookie's character in the book. We practice with zippers, button, snaps, and velcro with our caterpillar and busy basket. We had fun while using problems solving and building fine motor and knowledge of self help skills.
